Mega Goodwill outlet coming to Vancouver

On Sept. 20, Vancouver’s first “super-sized” Goodwill outlet store and distribution will open at 9021 N.E. 117th Ave. in Orchards.

The original 2,500-square-foot Vancouver outlet in the Fourth Plain Boulevard store, which opened in 1992, will close Sept. 19.

This new 43,000-square-foot facility, which was designed and built for Goodwill, will sell bulk merchandise by the pound, which allows shoppers to save money.

On top of 12 retail staffers, the outlet will employ more than 20 people to transport, sort and process goods that don’t sell at this “last chance” store. The unsold items will be redistributed to recyclers.

The outlet also will serve as the transportation hub for the current and future stores in Southwest Washington and Northeast Portland.

Scripted Motion locates at Port of CW

Washougal-based web technology firm Scripted Motion Inc. has moved to a 345-square-foot office space at the Port of Camas-Washougal.

In 1995, the company’s three principals, Troy Martin, Thad Eakins and Kyle Eakins, installed and managed one of the first local dial-up access pools in the Camas-Washougal area.

Tyler leaves Port of CW

Sheldon Tyler, who served as the Port of Camas-Washougal’s executive director for 22 years, has vacated his position.

Tyler was appointed to the position in 1985, and during his tenure, oversaw quantifiable growth at the port.

He plans to take some personal time with his family before exploring other interests, and expects to be active in the Camas-Washougal community, according to a Port of CW news release.

Port consultant Byron Hanke will oversee port operations and will lead a search for a new executive director, which is expected to take several months.
