Nicholas Shanmac has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the Vancouver Business Journal, effective immediately. Shanmac joined the VBJ in 2010 as managing editor.
During his six years with the publication, Shanmac has re-imagined several of the VBJ’s platforms and initiatives. He expanded the journal’s digital presence and launched several new features including video and podcast interviews, the Best in Business Awards, Up Close and Volunteer of the Week.
“We are very excited about the elevation and expansion of Nick’s role at the VBJ,” said Steve McDonagh, business manager and co-owner of the Vancouver Business Journal. “Over the past six years he has proven to be a serious, committed and skilled journalist. As our new editor-in-chief, Nick’s role will certainly expand as he exercises his influence to keep the Vancouver Business Journal respected as a fair and accurate news publication and the Voice of Southwest Washington Business.”
Shanmac earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus on journalism and communications from the University of Oregon. A 2012 graduate of Leadership Clark County, he also serves on the Clark County Skills Center Foundation Board and the Clark College Business Advisory Council.
