NRI officials said the purchase is a major step for the school toward becoming a national leader in railroad career training.
“Having this locomotive gives our students the opportunity to practice in a working yard with real life switching scenarios and operational railroad equipment” said Wayne Matulich, NRI program director. “We want to replicate the work our graduates will be doing in the field which makes this training exceedingly valuable.”
The Northwest Railroad Institute is based out of Vancouver’s International Air and Hospitality Academy. The program was launched last summer.
