U.S. Bank, through the U.S. Bancorp Foundation, has granted $4,500 total to three area arts organizations: Tears of Joy Theatre, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the New Blue Parrot Productions.
Vancouver-based Tears of Joy Theatre is a nationally recognized puppet theater. The grant will support performances and workshops in Northwest schools.
About 75 musicians perform in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is a community-based orchestra that performs in six pairs of concerts during its season.
New Blue Parrot Productions is a Washougal-based theater organization.
The U.S. Bancorp Foundation provides grants to four categories: economic opportunity, culture and arts enrichment, education and to United Way as an effective means of meeting human service needs.
The culture and arts enrichment grants – of which the foundation gave 32 in the Vancouver-Portland metro area – aim to build audiences for the arts, especially among underserved populations, bring select and limited civic amenities to underserved, rural communities and promote the arts in education.
“We believe that all three elements are part of what makes a community a strong, vibrant place to live and work,” said David Wynde, vice president and manager of community relations for U.S. Bank in Portland.
