Burt Paynter, executive director of the International Discovery Walk Festival, accepts the Outstanding Event Award on behalf of the organization at the inaugural Clark County Tourism Awards Feb. 23 at the Hilton Vancouver. Presenting the award were, from left, Vancouver City Councilor Dan Tonkovich and county commissioners Betty Sue Morris and Steve Stuart. Other award winners were Friends of the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge for Outstanding Ecotourism, Maili Morrison of the Heathman Lodge for Outstanding Young Leader in Tourism, the National Park Service Fort Vancouver National Historic Site for Outstanding Cultural Tourism and the Heathman Lodge for Outstanding Tourism Service. The Clark County Lodging Assoc. and Southwest Washington Convention and Visitors Bureau co-sponsored the event.
