After 55 years, Portland-based damage restoration company Dow Columbia has changed hands. The company, founded in 1952 by Murray Dow and Gene O’Lee, has always been a family run business. Dow’s son Reed Dow sold the company Dec. 13 to Battle Ground residents Jerry and Kaley Baker.
The Bakers bring to Dow more than 20 years experience in homebuilding and remodeling, having sold their home remodeling franchise in 2004.
“What made (Dow) a really good match for us is the institutional memory of the Dow name,” said co-owner Kaley Baker. The Bakers plan to expand the business to Vancouver and to include home rebuilding and remodeling, along with traditional damage restoration services. The company also handles hazardous clean-up and emergency services.
