First job: My “career” began with the typical teenager jobs including mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, serving ice cream and waiting tables.
Fun fact: My favorite way to start each day is a tough workout at my local CrossFit gym with great friends. At age 41 I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been in my life.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: I’m a huge college football fan, so in the fall there’s nothing better than watching a college football game on a big screen TV with friends and food in my BYU-themed man cave.
Favorite movie: Movies are fun, and I enjoy them. But, going to live Broadway theatre and listening to old dramatized radio stories are more entertaining. My favorite Broadway musical is Fiddler on the Roof. My favorite dramatized radio series is The Shadow from the 1930’s.
Music of choice: I went to high school in the 80’s, so I’m a fan of classic rock. I also try to keep up on current pop music so I can better connect with my kids.
Favorite place to eat: Locally, I enjoy eating at Tommy O’s, Beaches and Ginger Pop. I also like the Skamania Lodge buffet in the Columbia River Gorge and Mama’s Fish House on Maui. However, there’s nothing that beats a good home-cooked meal.
Motto/Inspirational quote: My dad taught me to always give it my best. I remember him saying, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” That has always motivated me in my professional endeavors. Another quote I like, which helps me balance my priorities as a father: “Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.” – David O. McKay
