Fun fact: I went to the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring School. I umpired 17 years of college baseball and 2 1/2 years of minor & independent league professional baseball. This means I’ve been yelled at in five or six different languages.
Another fun fact: I have a world class Frisbee dog, Nick the Wonder Dog. We used to compete on the circuit. Now we mostly do demo’s for kids and for the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. Nick is really, really good. Unfortunately for him, his human is the weak link on our team.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: On a summer Saturday night, Island Café, Esther Short Park and any event going on. During the fall and winter, the Pearl District in Portland.
Favorite movie: This is such a hard question! I’m going to go Alex Trebek and go with genre of movies. Sci-Fi: “The Abyss.” Romantic Comedy: “Serendipity.” Comedy: “Caddyshack.” Horror: “Silence of the Lambs.” Drama: “Mystic River.” Action: “The Terminator.”
Music of choice: “Anything with a beat that I can dance to Mr. Clark.” I’m dating myself with an American Bandstand reference, but I do like to dance so pop music and I sheepishly admit, hip-hop.
Favorite place to eat: In the ‘Couve: Tommy O’s, Beaches and Yogurt Time. I love Yogurt Time! Portland: Bluehour, Lucky Strike, Aviary and Ping.
Motto/Inspirational quote: “To laugh often and much; to win respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest criticism and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty and find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
