Current job: Owner and director of Engineering at SGA Engineering, PLLC
Proudest professional moment: I have a few. My first was taking the leap to start my own business. My second is surviving the Great Recession and then growing SGA into a local leader. But, perhaps my proudest moments come from mentoring and watching our team continue to learn and grow.
First job: I had my first job at 14 and worked summers as a BBQ cook at Uncle Red’s BBQ. It was a special events catering company.
Fun fact: I helped put myself through college by starting a DJ business spinning tunes. It was a great college job! I learned about as much doing that as I did in class. I met a lot of people and learned some invaluable entrepreneurial skills. To get it started I borrowed $1,000 from my parents. I paid it back in a month. I think that was the last time I asked my parents for money. “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” I am grateful for my parents’ encouragement and confidence.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: Any place with good company.
Favorite movies: On my first date with my wife we went to see “Forest Gump,” so that one always has a place in my heart. But I get a little excited every time I hear the opening song to “Star Wars.” The Star Wars movies had such a huge impact on my childhood. I also loved watching them with my daughters who also became huge fans. We can’t wait until the next series comes out later this year!
Music of choice: A little bit of everything. I love it all. Music has an amazing way of bringing back memories. I also have a tough time sitting still when a good song comes on. It is not unusual to find me out on the dance floor!
Favorite place to eat: I used to feel I had to cross the river to get really good food, but that is not the case anymore! Clark County has some great restaurants! Some of my favorites are: Willems on Main, Mill Creek Pub, Farrar’s Bistro, and Tommy O’s.
