First job: Child laborer (entrepreneur, artist and lawn mower); First official job: Barista at Starbucks (I still hate that title)
Fun fact: Related to the Frankenstein family (yes, that Frankenstein family).
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: Walking my very needy Husky, Maiya, on the WSU Vancouver campus as the sun sets and lights up Mt. Hood and Mount St. Helens with spectacular colors. Or, with my beautiful wife relaxing by the river with a seasonal brew and a basket of Cajun tots at McMenamins on the Columbia.
Favorite movie: James Bond, 007 – Skyfall. Die-hard James Bond fan. My wife will never understand.
Music of choice: It’s hard to narrow it down to a specific genre; I entertain a fairly eclectic music spectrum. I am a huge fan of AC/DC and the Eagles, but can often be caught listening to anything from the classic scores of John Williams and Aaron Copland to the relaxing and Portlandia-esque beats of Washed Out.
Favorite place to eat: Saigon Restaurant (4th Plain & Andresen) – have been patronizing since my first visit with dad at age nine, so it has a special place in my heart. Honorable mentions include Vancouver’s own Thai Orchid, Woody’s Tacos and Willem’s on Main. I’m an enormous fan of Russell Brent’s Mill Creek Pub up north in Battle Ground as well.
Motto/Inspirational quote: “Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also.” – Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor 161-180 AD
