Current job: Assistant curator at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. It’s my job to care for our museum collection of nearly two million artifacts, design exhibits, and to manage our social media and outreach.
Proudest professional moment: Seeing the opening of the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center last November. I worked on a small team of National Park Service staff over a period of nearly two years to design the building’s exhibits. The finished building turned out beautifully; I hope that it will be a source of pride for our community for many years to come.
First job: My first job in the museum field was as an admissions representative at the Seattle Art Museum. I don’t think there are any jobs that are “too small” in museums – every position can contribute to our professional knowledge. Even selling tickets taught me about museum visitors, who they were and what they wanted to see and get out of their visits.
Fun fact: My husband and I eloped to Paris. It’s one of our favorite places.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: I have a one-year-old daughter, so right now my favorite place on any night is curled up on my sofa with a good book after she’s (finally) fallen asleep!
Favorite movie: Atonement
Music of choice: Right now I can’t stop listening to the Hamilton soundtrack. It’s such a modern and exciting way to present history.
Favorite place to eat: Thatcher’s for coffee and treats, and Lapellah for weekend brunch and dinner.
