Fun fact: I was in a band (actually several bands) in the ‘80s, in which I wrote the songs (music and lyrics), played rhythm guitar, yodeled and sang. Yes, yodeled. I was totally that cool.
Favorite spot on a Saturday night: At home with my husband Jerry, our English bulldog Jake and a good book.
Favorite movie: I have a lot of “favorite” movies and one that I simply love on many levels is “Groundhog Day.” Not only is it hilariously funny (Bill Murray is a comic genius), but it offers valuable life lessons, such as how we get out of life exactly what we put into it, and that our daily choices define our life experiences and outcomes.
Music of choice: While I enjoy many styles of music (jazz, rock and opera), what I listen to most often is instrumental ambient music, by such artists as Brian Eno, Steven Halpern and Liquid Mind. This genre has been described as “music of being, rather than music of doing,” and that’s exactly what I love about it.
Favorite place to eat: Duck Tales Kitchen makes the best omelet in town (and that includes Portland). For lunch, nothing beats the dim sum at Wong’s King Seafood Restaurant in Portland. And for dinner, the fried chicken at Screen Door in Portland is heavenly.
Motto/Inspirational quote: I adore quotes (and have collected hundreds) because so much experience and wisdom can be shared in a few pithy words. Here are two that summarize my business philosophy:
“You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar
“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of home and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand.” – Woodrow Wilson
