Current employer or place of business: Halbert Construction Services
Organization(s) I volunteer with: Board president for the Southwest Washington Contractors Association; multiple SWCA Committees; Leadership Clark County Recruitment Committee and Alumni Committee; Dozer Days Volunteer Committee; and I just recently joined the board of the Clark County Skills Center Foundation which I am very excited about!
How I got involved: Being in the construction industry, I have always volunteered and been a part of the Southwest Washington Contractors Association. It was a natural fit. It wasn’t until I took Leadership Clark County in 2014 that I really became more active in volunteering in the community. I am a huge believer in LCC and how it can impact you both personally and professionally.
Why I give back: I love helping people and doing things for others. I think it in my soul to do so.
Proudest moment as a volunteer: Being a role model to my kids and seeing them excited about volunteering and giving back. As a family, we always do a food box at church on Thanksgiving and Christmas. We go shopping together and they pick out all the food to fill the box and even contribute part of their own money to cover the costs. Then they will write notes or draw pictures to put in the box as well. It makes them feel good to know they are helping others who are less fortunate.
What local challenge or issue are you most passionate about? I have a sister who is homeless and has struggled with addiction for 18 years. This has had a huge impact on me and my family. I would love to get more involved with helping those with addiction and their families. It is something I constantly think about and I know will be part of my future volunteering someday.
Just for fun: What are your hidden talents? I am a pretty amazing cribbage player! If anyone is up for the challenge, I know they have cribbage boards at Mill Creek Pub!
